Convinced that innovation is one of the main ways to gain competitive advantages by addressing the needs of the market, the managers of Mino Gaillard SNDG, a family business enjoying a large experience of heavy jars and over-moulding, obtained an official public support for their Plastiglass project .
The Plastiglass project, which consists in substituting plastic to glass in cosmetics packaging, by reproducing all the glass sensory properties, has three objectives:
– optimizing the sensory aspect,
– providing an economical material (life cycle analysis of energy consumption in favour of plastic in comparison with glass)
– optimizing the technical specifications of the material (mechanical strength, chemical test...).
The outcome of the project is the development of a 50ml jar that complements the company’s existing ranges with the following benefits:
– a process for over-moulding thick-walled cosmetics containers in co-polyester and/or several materials,
– transparency without distortion above the glass
– the ability to colour the different material layers,
– the possibility to include decorations (silk-screen printing, hot stamping, metal label, fabric, etc.) between the layers.

“Today, we have a serious alternative for developments on jars, lids with strong thickness for customers who want rid of glass,” said the company in a release.
