Jil Sander is entering the world of high-end perfumery with a first collection of six unisex fragrances called Olfactory Series 1.
This new collection, created by the Coty group under its perfume license, is initially available exclusively at select boutiques of the fashion house.
The brand claims minimalist formulas with three key natural ingredients, synthetic aldehydes, alcohol, and water. For this collection, Coty is continuing its policy of using alcohol from carbon recycling, which is blended with traditional alcohol in varying proportions depending on the references.
"The fragrances were designed by five of the most talented emerging and established international perfumers, under the guidance of Jil Sander’s Creative Directors, Lucie and Luke Meier," said the brand in a media statement.
The bottle was designed with the Milan and Rotterdam-based design studio Formafantasma.
“The goal was to push an artisanal approach and feeling into an industrial process, (…) breaking the codes of traditional glassmaking. (…) Each bottle has an organic, non-symmetrical shape, and a unique glass repartition. At a closer look, small random imperfections make them all singular, as the persons who will make the fragrances their own,” the brand added.
Owned by OTB Group (Diesel, Maison Margiela, Marni, Viktor&Rolf), Jil Sander renewed its licensing agreement with Coty in 2023 on the base of a new strategic project focusing on the ultra-premium perfume segment. Jil Sander is distributed globally through a network of about 70 boutiques and some 300 multi-brand retailers.
In early 2024, Coty also signed a beauty licensing agreement with OTB Group for the Marni brand.
