Croda Beauty Actives (formerly Sederma) has carried out new tests on textured hair with Apiscalp, a multifunctional ingredient dedicated to the beauty and comfort of the scalp.

The active, a natural extract of apium graveolens (celery) seeds, addresses the needs of both oily and dry scalp, helping them to fight against dandruff, itching, dryness and hyperseborrhea, to control local microflora (Malassezia) proliferation, to restore the scalp stratum corneum integrity and to regulate the epidermal differentiation and desquamation.

The new results shows that Apiscalp markedly reduces scalp itching by 80% for volunteers with textured hair after 3 weeks of application, a result similar to what was obtained with volunteers with non-textured hair. After 3 weeks of application, Apiscalp also improves scalp hydration by +43% on volunteers with textured hair.

According to Croda Beauty Actives, volunteers also noted an improvement in the flaking state of their scalp as early as after the first application and with an average reduction of 19%. This reduction is even greater after 3 weeks, reaching 63%, for all volunteers regardless of their gender or hair type.

Obtained from the sustainable supercritical CO2 extraction process, Apiscalp complies with the Chinese regulation for cosmetic ingredients and is COSMOS approved.
