The olfactive diagnosis created by Nose, the Parisian concept-store specialised in alternative perfumery and cosmetic brands, is now proposed in a license approach on digital tablets (iPad) to other high quality retailers around the world. Skins Cosmetics will be the first retail stores to rollout this technology outside France. In a first step, two stores in Amsterdam will begin using the Nose perfume recommendation technology: Skins Cosmetics Runstraat (Runstraat 11, 1016 GJ Amsterdam) and Skins Cosmetics het Conservatorium Hotel (Van Baerlestraat 27, 1071 AN Amsterdam).

Skins Cosmetics is a Dutch retailer specialized in niche cosmetic brands with 11 stores across The Netherlands and a carefully selected collection of renowned brands such as Creed, Diptyque, Editions de Parfums Frederic Malle, Maison Francis Kurdjian, Byredo, etc.

An original computerized tool

Two and a half years have been needed for Nose to launch, on June 2012, a unique perfume recommendation technology, which aims to help anyone to find the perfect fragrance for oneself or for a relative. Built from thousands of perfumes qualified one by one by a team of very senior perfumers, it also leverages a very robust statistical algorithm.

The Nose diagnosis helps you find new fragrances through a short survey of seven questions on your profile and your existing and past perfumes. You can then access your ‘olfactive portrait’ (favorite scent families/notes), from which you will discover five recommended perfumes that suit your preferences. You will then be asked to evaluate each fragrance so that your ‘olfactive portrait’ always gets updated, with 5 newer recommended perfumes,” says the retailer in a release.

This service was first implemented at the Nose outlet in Paris to boost in-store perfume advisor knowledge and help customers find their perfect fragrance. About 30,000 perfume diagnoses in less than a year.

This tool is really at the centre of the Nose concept and of its first concept store that opened in Paris in June 2012 from a team of seven beauty professionals and enthusiasts (Nicolas Cloutier, Silvio Levi, Romano Ricci, Mark Buxton...).
