Following Bernd Beetz’s decision to retire as chief executive officer of Coty, the board of global beauty company has appointed Michele Scannavini as his successor. The nomination will be effective on August 1, 2012.

Michele Scannavini

Michele Scannavini had been responsible for the global business activities of Coty Prestige and managed notable brands within the group’s highly competitive and diversified portfolio including Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta, Calvin Klein, Cavalli, Chloé, Davidoff, Jennifer Lopez, Marc Jacobs and philosophy, among others. He pioneered the launch of exclusive luxury licenses to complete Coty’s comprehensive fragrance portfolio. He also guided the company’s growing presence in skin and body care. “His ability to develop inventive products and establish a unique parallel between beauty/fashion and entertainment has led the Coty Prestige group to more than tripling its sales worldwide,” explains the company on its website.

Prior to joining Coty, Scannavini was the chief executive officer of Fila Holding. A graduate of Boconi University, he gained a wealth of experience in numerous marketing, sales and general management positions, including roles at Ferrari and Maserati automobiles.

Bernd Beetz will remain on the Coty board as a non-executive director. In this role he will continue to share his experience and contribute to a smooth leadership transition supporting Michele Scannavini.
