The Switzerland-based manufacturer is launching LunaRose [1], a new skin care active ingredient inspired by Finland’s day-night cycles.
Derived from the organic rose hips of a unique Finnish rose variety that has adapted to the very special day-night cycles of Northern Europe, the botanical ingredient delivers melatonin-like effects to help regenerate and rejuvenate skin during the night.
“Melatonin, an essential molecule for regulating our internal circadian clock, is naturally secreted by the brain at night to help us sleep. Interestingly, melatonin can also act directly on our skin. It is produced by skin cells, has strong antioxidant effects and a positive effect on skin barrier. However, insufficient sleep, aging, and environmental factors like blue light exposure or shift work can disturb melatonin synthesis and receptor expression, leading to visible signs of skin fatigue: dryness, dullness, dark eye circles, and wrinkles,” Mibelle Biochemistry explains.
In vitro researches have shown that LunaRose upregulates melatonin receptor expression and modulates the expression of circadian clock genes, helping to support the skin’s natural day-night rhythm. Additionally, LunaRose provides strong antioxidant protection and strengthens the skin barrier, shielding it from environmental stressors. It also enhances mitochondrial function, which naturally declines with age, ensuring the skin remains energized and resilient.
In vivo tests have shown that LunaRose helps to lighten dark eye circles, to increase hydration and barrier function, to visibly improve skin radiance and glow, to reduce skin roughness and redness, as well as the nasolabial fold. LunaRose also has an overnight skin filling effect on the décolleté.
Mibelle’s LunaRose is Cosmos approved, Natrue certified. This water-soluble powder is free from preservatives and alcohol.
