Sales of make-up products in the USA are slowing. According to Mintel, consumer desire for more simplified makeup routines is resulting in stalled growth across the individual colour cosmetics segments. The market research firm forecasts colour cosmetics sales to increase by two percent in 2017 to reach US$11.0 billion, with lip cosmetics, facial cosmetics and eye cosmetics each growing around two percentage points slower this year compared to 2016. [1] However, skincare-inspired benefits are in high demand among colour cosmetics users.

In this context, MakeUp in NewYork will offer a complete overview of the major trends impacting the US market as well as the global beauty industry, including a presentation by Mintel’s Senior Innovation and Insight Analyst, Sarah Jindal (“State of the Global Beauty Industry”) and another by Amanda R. Gonzalez, Specialist, Makeup and Beauty Industry Analyst at The NPD Group (“State of the US Beauty Industry”).

"We are living an exciting era for Beauty", explains Leila Rochet-Podvin, Founder of Cosmetics Inspiration & Creation who helped the MakeUp in the curation of the conference program. "The beauty industry is undertaking major disruptive changes due to the rise of technology and new alternative paths of consumer purchases. This leads to major changes that will impact the future of beauty".

Together with Karen Young, US Industry Expert and founder of the Karen Group and Charles-Emmanuel Gounod, Founder of BeautyWorld, Leila has set up a detailed Trends & Insight conference program for the visitors and exhibitors of the show. This year conference and roundtable will gather 35 speakers around key topics that will influence the future of the industry.

For instance, on Tuesday, 19 September (3:30pm - 5:00pm), speakers will question the trend to relocate the supply chain within US borders during a roundtable titled: "Products Made in The USA - How American suppliers are shinning and innovating to be at the forefront of international competitiveness?"

MakeUp in NewYork will hold its 7th edition on September 19-20, 2017 at Center415 on 5th Avenue.
