The organizers of Luxe Pack Shanghai have announced a 4% increase in visitor numbers at the fifth edition of the show. A total of 2877 people thus visited the 2012 edition, which was held on the 28th and 29th of March at the Shanghai International Convention Center. This record-breaking figure was achieved despite stricter access rules enforced by the organisers, in order to ensure that “the show was truly a private event that offered added value for businesses and was exclusively aimed at brands seeking packaging.

Furthermore, the organizers particularly welcome the increasing number of Chinese and international luxury brands among visitors.

We have seen a 25% increase in the number of luxury brands visiting the fair! Such an increase surpasses even our most optimistic estimates, and the enthusiasm of our exhibitors is further proof of our success,” explained Nathalie Grosdidier, Director General of IDICE and organiser of the event.

Also according to organizers, almost 80% of the visitors to the fair were decision makers: General Directors, Purchasing Managers, Marketing Managers, Product Development Managers and R&D Managers.

Making its first appearance at Luxe Pack Shanghai, the Luxe Pack in Green 2012 award was awarded to Unisource Global Solutions for its’ "Bamboo blister". The jury was won over by its low carbon emissions and highly recyclable materials.

The jury also made 4 special mentions to: Hangzhou Zhenhua Glass for its fire polishing of glass vases using liquid oxygen, Dongguan Mingfeng Packaging for its bamboo wine box, Shanghai JHT Creative Development Corporation for the tea caddy made for Twinnings out of a single piece of material, and finally for Tullis Russel for their eco-educational centre project and its factory that is partially run on biomass fuels.
