This is the result of a partnership initiated a year ago that DuPont Filaments, inventor and manufacturer of Natrafil, Strand Cosmetics Europe, a French company specialising in the development in skin care and makeup products, and Louise Wittlich, a German born make-up artist and beauty coaching specialist, have presented on the occasion of the latest edition of MakeUp in Paris (June 20-21, 2013).
56 combinations
Initially, their goal appeared quite simple: to find a better balance between the applicator and a makeup product for the face. However, in the end, thirty different textures were tested: primers and bases, foundations, concealers, blushes and powders. These tests gave rise to fifty-six different makeup/brush combinations. These combinations were evaluated based on numerous criteria, such as coverage, luminosity, wear, brush design, rigidity of the fibres, ease of pick-up and application of the makeup product.
The project allowed adapting the composition of the fibres in function of the formulation, in order to achieve the desired powder pick-up or a particular makeup effect. Four top-performing combinations of brush/makeup product were selected to achieve a flawless, totally natural « nude » makeup effect:
– Corrective base AQUAPERFECTION
– IDEAL FINISH powder
– MAGICIEN D’OSE CC cream
– VOILE PRECIEUX powderly blush
Anisa International, designer and brush producer, thus joined the project team by bringing their expertise in working the fibres to create brushes that respond to the requirements of the makeup artist.
“The innovative character of the four matches between brushes and makeup product has been achieved from the synergies between makeup experts who had the inspiration to share their competencies in order to create a unique database and optimize makeup results by creating a distinctive cosmetic tool,” says DuPont.
