In the area of solar products, oils are now highly valued by users for their spreading, transparency and water resistance properties. Often seen as the product symbolizing the joys of sun, they had however the disadvantage of displaying a moderate protection against UVB radiations and a greasy finish.

Launched last year by the laboratories of the Alliance Boots group, the Boots Laboratories Solei range could already boast being the first comprehensive broad-spectrum UVA + UVB and UVA protection range with an advanced UVA protection. It included at the time 15 references for the face and body, with a childcare and after-sun offering, and SPFs ranging from 15 to 50+. The range was already offering two versions of dry oils displaying SPFs of 15 and 30.

Unrivalled on the market

In this area, it was Vichy, with Capital Solaire, who had managed to renew the offer during the year 2011 by proposing a product with an SPF 40, already offering at the time a high efficiency against UV radiations. But this year, Boots goes further by launching in early March on the French market The Solei dry oil sun spray with a very high SPF (50+), coupled to a five star protection against UVAs, that is to say with the highest achievable ratio to date.

The formulation consisting of chemical filters, with an optimized dosing to meet the desired claims, features a blend of emollients coupled with alcohol to provide a non-greasy texture and ensure non-comedogenic properties to the product. A patented antioxidant complex consisting of vitamin C, grape seed extracts and Ginseng also helps strengthen the natural defences of the skin against the sun and reinforces protection against skin damage in the long term.

Icing on the cake, the product is paraben free, hypoallergenic, and has a 100% transparent, easily spreadable texture guaranteeing an optimal comfortable application with no white streaks or greasy residue.

Marketed in six European continental countries (France, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Germany, and Norway), Boots Laboratories is reinforcing its positioning as a pioneer brand in the solar market. Alliance Boots markets solar products since 1920. In 1996, the UK based group launched the very first SPF 50 in the world. A revolution for the time! The group also created the UVA five star system, which is now taken up by most brands of solar products in the UK and in many other countries.
