Sun Chemical, one of the world’s largest producer of printing inks and pigments (more than 250 locations in 56 countries, 8,000 employees and annual sales exceeding US$ 3.5 billion), is expanding its colour cosmetics business in Europe with the acquisition of Kingfisher Colours Limited, a privately owned decorative cosmetics colour manufacturer based in Reading, United Kingdom.

With the acquisition, Sun Chemical will expand its leading global position in the decorative colour cosmetics marketplace. Together with Kingfisher’s complementary colour portfolio, Sun Chemical can provide cosmetics formulators new, innovative styling looks while further expanding colour space capabilities,” claims the company in a release.

Additionally, Kingfisher’s European-based production sites will enhance Sun Chemical’s global cosmetics colours manufacturing capabilities and will allow for further penetration into developing markets.

Kingfisher’s cosmetic pigments portfolio includes FDA certified colorants, inorganic and surface treated pigments for the global cosmetics and personal care industry.

The addition of Kingfisher’s diverse, high quality product lines and specialized tailor-made products will further expand Sun Chemical’s cosmetics and personal care product offerings globally,” said Myron Petruch, President of Sun Chemical Performance Pigments. “Sun Chemical has experienced tremendous growth in the global cosmetics market and this acquisition will help us grow quickly into this strategic market and enable us to better serve our customers.

James Ward, Supply Chain Director at Sun Chemical Performance Pigments, will manage Kingfisher Colours and its integration into Sun Chemical’s existing global cosmetics business.
