Oekabeauty - a German firm specialized in the design and manufacture of lipstick tubes, mascaras and lip glosses - has successful completed a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) audit conducted by a major US manufacturer of branded goods.

With a score of 98% and a rating as level 1 supplier this audit establishes Oekabeauty continued pursuit of excellence in manufacturing quality products for its customers,” the company explained in a release. The audit assessed the facility’s compliance to GMP in producing cosmetic packaging including reviewing e.g. quality systems, hygiene regulations, pest control, employee practices and plant sanitation.

We are very pleased to have received such a positive audit report” said Frank Bierkandt, Assistant General Management of Oekabeauty, “But since we are already certified according to several ISO norms we had to set the bar very high.

Indeed, Oekabeauty holds already compliance certificates to the several national and European standards including DIN ISO 9001:2008, ISO/TS 16949:2009, BS OHSAS 18001:2007 and, since 2010, DIN ISO 14001:2005 (environmental management system).

In order to obtain the ISO 14001 certification, Oekabeauty has completely abandoned the use of solvents in lacquering and metallizing. In addition, the company has finalized a number of technical improvements this year to upgrade on-site metallizing and lacquering technology in its Bamberg facility.

Eventually, an ISO 50001 audit is planned for 2013 to help improve and reduce energy usage.
