Nearly 40 per cent of French women rank mascara at the top their favourite makeup products list, revealed a recent study by Glossybox, one of the leading beauty boxes company. The survey was conducted in February, based on a sample of 3982 Glossybox French subscribers, aged 18 to 35 year old.

Mascara is closely followed by foundation (33.2%).

Never without make up

Almost all of the women surveyed (92.3 per cent) say that "there’s always a good reason to wear makeup”, and nearly three-quarters of them (72 per cent) admit to wear makeup to show themselves to best advantage, while 12.8 per cent say they use makeup to “increase self-confidence."

While nearly three-quarters of women surveyed (73 per cent) say they feel confortable not to wear makeup with their lover, they are only 43 per cent to be able to go out without makeup. Another highlight: 39 per cent of respondents do not even consider showing their natural face to their colleagues.

10 to 25 euros per month

French women surveyed by Glossybox like testing new products (86.4 per cent) and it seems logical considering the business model of beauty boxes. However, their average monthly budget spent in makeup products remains quite low. Actually, 34.5 per cent of them spend between 10 and 25 euros, while 31.2 per cent spend between 25 and 45 euros.

Ultimate finding: the brand appears as the main purchasing factor, before result and price.
