In a market permanently in search for new products, cosmetic ingredient suppliers are required to develop an increasingly widespread range of services. Their laboratories do no longer limit themselves to illustrate the potential of their products, but offer innovative formulations in line with the needs of different markets and with the latest trends. Thus Eckart offers its interpretation of the trends in colour cosmetics for spring / summer 2013.

The specialist of metallic effect and pearlescent pigments has identified three major trends: Colours to die for, Business glam, and Dresscode summer.

However, warns Eckart, “as unique as each of us are, the more important our ‘own’ personal style becomes. Few big trends mix up with each other and are displaced by a variety of uncountable small, but distinctive directions.” What counts, in the end, is to stand out from the rivals, to entice emotions, to leave a deep impression on others, in particular in a highly competitive environment.

Colors to Die for

Colors to Die for

The first of the three trends developed by Eckart, is made of metal effects that meet traditional Scottish habits and melt into a moment of sensuality. “They create the feeling that the long-awaited gentleman is only one look away. When applying the “Colors to Die for” make-up, a woman turns into a femme fatale for one night. She will be the centre of attention, and wraps everybody around her little finger by her charming appearance.

To illustrate this theme, Eckart used a variety of red and lilac shades, provided with the expressive metallic shine of its Visionaire range of pigments. “They are dark, dramatic, and offer passion to touch,” explains Eckart.

The ‘colours to die for’ trend was also illustrated in lip stick colours (Gasping Rose, Racing Heart, Bloodcurdling Ruby), blushes, and nail varnishes (Burning Tears, Heart-Stopping Pink, Pulse Breaking).

Business Glam

Business Glam, the second trend, brings a feminine touch into a business world. “This theme understands itself as an escape from dreary dark-blue and grey interwoven office routine. It is a clear commitment to delicate colour accents, which are effectually spiced up with glamour.

Colours are derived from the nude trend, and they have been successfully combined with the Mirage range, Eckart’s borosilicate pigments.

For this thematic, liquid eye shadows in toffee and caramel have been upgraded by a touch of violet. “They bring unexpected sparkle to the ‘business lid’, and help radiate self-confidence and dynamics. Additionally the eyeliner ensures precise highlights,” explains Eckart.

As per glosses, they will bring lips no more than the necessary sparkle. The same applies for the nail polishes; on the first sight their shades appear innocent and subtle. On looking closely they shine in manifold dimensions.

Dresscode: Summer

Dresscode: Summer

Eventually, Dresscode: Summer, the third and last trend explored by Eckart, targets the young, hip, cool. “Dresscode: Summer is happiness created with the cleanliness of SynCrystal pigments. Long days, long nights – both are right.

It is a true anthem to summertime, sports, beach, music and meeting new people. In short, an anthem to the lust for life; outdoor activities, and to freedom.

The colours in this theme are sending a floral message, with eyes exuding cheerfulness, lips which invite kissing, and nails that are true eye catchers.

Dresscode: Summer represents the perfect contrast and partner to the white of linen,” concludes Eckart.
