Reed Exhibitions’ newest launch, in-cosmetics Korea, “exceeded all industry expectations” and lived up to its promise of a truly “new international show for Korea” said the organisers after the show, which was held on 15-16 June 2015 at the Coex Exhibition Centre in Seoul, close its doors.
A total of 3,121 unique visitors packed the event’s red velvet aisles in pursuit of ingredient innovations from about 200 exhibitors, 127 of them - accounting for 64% of the total number of exhibitors - being from outside Korea. “As forecast, visitors were predominantly Korean but select overseas attendees from the five continents also made their way to Seoul with Thai, Japanese, US and Indian visitors amongst the largest international contingents,” said the organisers.
The show’s “Innovation Zone” spotlighted 18 new ingredients launched within the last eight months. Worth noting amongst the ingredients on display were Senas from Bioland - a multi-functional active to hydrate and whiten the skin - as well as Epitex 66 Polymer from Dow Chemical Company, which boasts water resistance from a high-sensory appeal polymer ideal for lasting colour coverage. Also present on the Zone were ten innovative finished products selected by market research firm Mintel with a view to inspiring cosmetic manufacturers.
“We have been overwhelmed by the response to the show. We sold out of exhibition space one week before the event. The MERS outbreak had some impact on the number of visitors, especially international attendees, yet we still exceeded our original visitor target by 56%. So where do we go from here? Stand rebooking at the show has been very impressive and we are moving to a larger hall so expect next year’s show to be 50% bigger and even better,” concluded Sarah Gibson, Exhibition Director, in-cosmetics Korea.
Next year’s in-cosmetics Korea will be taking place at Coex in June 2016. Exact dates are still to be confirmed.
