Verdan, who has just been granted Ecocert’s approval for the use of its Kalunite potassium alum in as a raw material in the formulation of certified natural cosmetics, is partnering with DKSH for worldwide distribution of the micronized powder, an astringent commonly used in the formulation of deodorant and antiperspirant products.

Alum, also named potassium alum or hydrated potassium aluminium sulfate, can be synthesized, but is also naturally available in several parts of the world.

The choice of the DKSH group should help Verdan, one of the main supplier of natural potassium alum powder and also a contract manufacturer of natural deodorants, to improve its product’s notoriety among potential customers in Asia.

The new partnership for distribution will allow Verdan to expand its supply network of natural potassium alum to companies around the globe,” said Verdan founder Francis Verdan. “Furthermore, the first class service and support provided by DKSH proves critical in meeting global demand for an increasing natural product market and for developing business relationship with the most prestigious cosmetics makers.

According to Verdan, clinical tests performed by Dermscan Group have validated a 24 hour efficiency of alum as a deodorant ingredient.

In its micronized form, the Kalunite allows for a variety of formulations, including use in aerosol and spray products. Actually, Verdan uses this micronized form in the formulation of MineralProtect, its patented 100% natural deodorant spray.
