In the wake of the success of its Nea atmospheric lotion pump, Rexam is anticipating an increasing demand for packaging that can protect products’ formulas. The group wants to leverage its airless dispensing ability and expertise in neutral pump development by launching the Nea Airless line.

Debuted at Luxe Pack New York, May 19-20, the Nea Airless line anticipates an accelerating demand for lotion dispensers that provide high-performance protection for today’s radical new skin care formulations, which are increasingly delicate since they use less chemical preservatives and more natural ingredients.

According to Rexam, the new line also combines design flexibility, production efficiency, on-shelf appeal and smooth actuation, thus offering “a very interesting added value to brands”.

Our Nea Airless represents a significant new packaging alternative to existing airless dispensers, at a time of increased popularity of preservative-free or other formulations sensitive to oxygen and metal components. It fits perfectly with today’s bio-organics, anti-ageing, SPF and anti-acne products,” said Virginie Lemeunier, Product Manager, Facial Care, for Rexam’s Personal Care division.

The heart of the Rexam Nea Airless is the Nea engine itself, first launched in 2008. Designed without elastomers, the Nea is fitted with a glass ball and a spring placed outside the closing chamber, which assures metal-free formula flow, complete neutrality and protection against formula discoloration and incompatibility. The pump is engineered for smooth actuation, precise dosage and high suction force to handle today’s most viscous and sensitive products.

Rexam’s Nea Airless line

Rexam offers this comprehensive new airless solution in a 30ml, 50ml and, soon,15ml version and two designs (large, lockable actuator, with- or without cap). Complete high-end decoration, such as hot stamping, silk screening or vacuum metallization, is also available.

According to Sherry Welsh, Global Sales Director, Rexam Personal Care Division: “High-quality airless solutions such as Nea Airless anticipate both the introduction of new sensitive formulations, as well as further growth of premiumization in the personal care market, as consumers look for premium-grade packaging in their favorite brands.
