The Notification G.S.R. 426(E), Drugs and Cosmetics Rules, 2010, issued by the Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on May 19, 2010, was supposed to come into force on April 1, 2011. The text provided that, starting from this date, all cosmetic products imported into India would be tested and registered before being placed on the market.

However, Indian authorities have decided to postpone the entry into force of the Notification, due to difficulties in implementing the text as some of its provisions were far from being clear.

According to the Corrigendum G.S.R. 263(E) of March 30, 2011, the enforcement date has been postponed to the October 1, 2011. See document here below:
