The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has issued a circular No. 3597 dated 12/2/1432 (16 January 2011) banning all mouth wash and related products containing alcohol used for rinsing, cleaning or sterilizing of the mouth and teeth.
The SFDA explained the decision to ban these products was taken “due to the existence of permissible and available alcohol free alternatives.” The ban was effective immediately.
“In practice, no certificate of conformity will be issued for these product, they that can no longer be exported to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” explains Aurélie Moreau, Government Services Key Accounts & Project Cosmetics Manager, at Intertek, one of the company responsible for managing the Product Conformity Programme in the Kingdom,
